About Me

Hola! I'm Janette.

I'm a bilingual therapist serving adults and adolescents in Austin, TX, in person and statewide virtually. For over 15 years, I've supported individuals navigating trauma, personal crises, complex relationships, and challenging behaviors.

My story

I started my practice with a simple question: what if mental health care started from the ethos that being QT-BIPOC was a context to be honored in the therapy room?

Rooted in social justice, my work is informed by my experience as a first-generation Latina and member of the LGBTQIA+ community. I offer a culturally responsive, inclusive space for underrepresented communities and I believe meaningful therapeutic work does not require sameness.

I'm licensed in Texas, see clients in person in Austin, and work with others virtually across the state. I believe in collaborative, sustained, identity-affirming therapy work that doesn't just resolve symptoms but invites you back to yourself.

What I stand for

Values that shape every session

Liberation, not assimilation

Healing should free you, not retrofit you to systems that hurt you.

Body knowledge is real knowledge

Your nervous system holds wisdom we listen for, not over.

Confidentiality and consent

Your story is yours. Pace and disclosure are always your call.

Community-rooted

I see myself as part of a longer tradition of communal care.

My therapeutic approach

Therapy isn't about being fixed

Therapy isn't about being "fixed" or becoming perfect. It's about recognizing and cultivating the strengths already within you, and honoring the parts that make you uniquely you.

I believe resilience lives in all of us, though life's stressors can cloud our access to it. In therapy, my goal is to help you reconnect with a sense of calm, clarity, and self-trust. Together, we'll explore and heal past wounds that impact your present, build insight and self-compassion, and strengthen your ability to navigate challenges. We'll work on problem-solving, reshaping unhelpful thinking patterns, learning from mistakes with kindness, and setting meaningful goals so you feel empowered throughout the process.

If you enter therapy open to growth rather than avoidance, our work can be deeply transformative. This is your time and your space, and I'm honored to walk alongside you.
